Delivery Information

Our Delivery Service

Being a family owned department store, we place the utmost importance on providing the highest standards of customer service, none more so than with our delivery service. We run our own fleet of modern, highly maintained delivery vehicles with crews employed directly by us.

Van crews operate 5 days a week, Tuesday to Saturday, delivering to over a hundred homes every week within our standard delivery area. On the day of delivery customers have the added option of contacting the store to establish if an approximate AM or PM delivery slot applies.

Help us to help you

It is very important that you ensure there is sufficient large vehicular access to the property, on arrival at your home our crews will want to position the goods in the room of your choice so as well as checking that the goods will fit through all access doors and stairwells. As an added safeguard, customers are advised to make sure that all necessary internal routes have been adequately cleared.

Problems involving access to the property can occasionally occur, so if there is a history of restricted/difficult access for large vehicles this should be discussed at the time of purchase since a smaller vehicle may need to be deployed. Similarly where there is more than one flight of stairs and no lift, or in cases where a lift is the only means of reaching an upper level, this should also be brought to our attention at the time of purchase.

Going that extra mile

If required, our drivers will unpack your goods and remove the packaging and in the case of divan beds they will also carry out the assembly. Simply inform the sales staff at the time of purchase that you wish this to be done and ensure that the details are noted on your order.

That you are happy with your received purchase is very important to us and to ensure that the goods reach you in tip top condition our delivery crews are fully trained in all the necessary handling techniques. Similarly, as invited visitors to your home the delivery crews will make sure that respect and consideration extends to your property.

For these reasons we require you, or someone on your behalf, to be available upon delivery and to sign the despatch note to confirm the goods have been received and your property has been left in good condition.

Nominal charge

Delivery costs are not hidden in the price of our goods, so within our standard delivery area we make a nominal charge £15.00 as a contribution towards the costs of carriage. We will endeavour to accommodate any special requests you may have, but these cannot be guaranteed and along with deliveries outside of our standard delivery area, additional charges may apply. Quotations are available on request.

If you cancel an order or request to return goods because of a change of mind or other reasons that we may deem to be unreasonable or out of our control, we reserve the right, depending on circumstances to retain the deposit or charge up to 20% of the item or order value. This is printed on the reverse of your order form as part of the terms and conditions of purchasing.

Recycling of waste electrical and electronic items

Each year the public throw away over 1.2 million tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment, and this is increasing every year, easily making this the fastest growing waste stream. Three quarters of this waste ends up in landfill, and these sites are rapidly becoming full.

The good news is that most of this waste can be recycled, and the materials reused to make new products. This not only helps to save limited natural resources but also reduces the impact on our world and its environment

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations came into force in 2007 and allow the public to dispose of their old equipment, free of charge at recycling sites throughout the country.

Through the "Distributor Take Back Scheme," Atkinsons has joined with other leading electrical retailers to help contribute to developing and improving this national network of collection and recycling facilities, known as Local Authority Civic Amenity sites, so that our customers can easily recycle their old electrical equipment.
